Tennessee’s Most Conservative Legislator Launches Bid to Succeed Congressman Mark Green

State Representative Jody Barrett (R-Dickson), ranked as the most conservative legislator in Tennessee history, today announced his campaign for Congress to succeed retiring Congressman Mark Green in Tennessee’s 7th District.

Barrett, a lifelong rural Tennessean and small business owner, enters the race as the America First fighter with a record of taking on both parties, defending life and liberty, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with President Donald Trump.

“I’m the first legislator in Tennessee history to earn a perfect conservative voting record, and I promise to take that same Tennessee toughness to Washington to stand with President Trump and fight the liberal elites trying to destroy our way of life,” said Barrett. “I didn’t come from money or power, and I’ve never been impressed by either. I’ve always put Tennessee First, America First, and I always will.”

Barrett’s announcement comes as the Republican establishment eyes the open seat left by Congressman Green’s impending retirement. Known for his willingness to buck the political class, Jody Barrett offers voters a choice: a conservative fighter, not another insider.

“The swamp is the same no matter where you go. Big government handouts with big government price tags are bipartisan problems,” said Barrett. “It’s about standing your ground, voting your values, and fighting like hell for the people. I’ve taken on the elites in my own party and stood up for you. And like President Trump, they came after me, to get to you.”

In the State House, the Tennessee Report Card graded Barrett with the first-ever perfect 100% conservative voting record. Barrett is a relentless advocate for conservative values. He:

Championed legislation to defend life and protect Second Amendment rights
Led efforts to end sanctuary policies and deport illegal immigrant criminals
Opposed unconstitutional COVID mandates and fought for individual freedom
Called out government waste and stood firm against woke ideology and government overreach
Backed President Trump and fought the swamp
Authored and passed Tennessee’s Anti-Red Flag law to protect gun owners from unconstitutional government overreach
Was one of only four Republicans who voted to shut down Governor Lee’s special session on red flag laws before it even started.
